Bak Kut Teh @ Sungai Dua, Penang.

Today was quite an unfortunate day for me.
Guess what? My family and i were intending to have the reputed Sungai Nibong Bah Kut Teh for dinner.
Travelling for quite some distance there.
In the end, the whole food court was closed for business.

Never mind then, plan B was launched and we ended up in the Seong Huat Food Court which is located at Jalan Merak, Sungai Dua.
Well, i am not familiar with the area, so i can't explain how to travel there.
A site map should be able to show correct and accurate ways.
The food court was fulled of college students as USM is just in vicinity.
The dry Bah Kut Teh there was quite famous among students.
I had it once, it was fine.
But, that did not happen tonight.

It was hard to find a parking place though.
Finally, everything has settled down, we ordered the Bah Kut Teh.
We were given an alphabet, quite systematic huh.
Within 5 minutes, our things were served.
I can see that my family members were all shocked.
We have ordered 4 single sets, in which 2 of them were wet Bah Kut Teh while the other 2 were dry ones.
What i can see on the table was only a claypot of wet one and another claypot of dry one and the portions of both Bah Kut Teh were so small until we thought that they were actually single sets.
But, the lady claimed that each claypot was meant for two person.
I stirred the soup, and question marks began to appear on my mind.
Is this really meant for 2?

With a bad mood, we finished our dinner.
Regarding the wet Bah Kut Teh, the soup was sweet and the herbal taste was still there.
Honestly, the soup was mouthwatering but i doubted that how many meat balls were there.
Maybe only 3 of them?

Speaking of the dry Bah Kut Teh, it was tasty but it was damn fake.
The gravy was thick and a little bit salty, coped with spicy flavour.
God damn it, it was totally fake and should be known as Kung Pao (宫保) Bah Kut and not dry Bah Kut Teh.
It had not even a sign of dry Bah Kut Teh.
Despite all the negative comments made, i still adored the gravy a lot!

The yam rice was aromatic and formed a perfect match with the soup, yums!

Oh ya, before i forgot, there was another major disappointment as the you char kway (油条) was all sold out.
This meal cost us 31 bucks, with only 5 bowls of yam rice and the things i have mentioned above.
Overall, the meal tasted fine, but the price was a blast. Sigh!
